vs2016 designer file not updating-44

updating ares

I've just changed name and label of 12 textboxes including their labels, only to suddenly have VS2008 roll back everything and of course undo doesn't work at all.

To be fully honest, I H A T E the (so called) HTML designer in VS2008 right now, it is a usless piece of crap!

If I save the aspx file and reopen it later, the later changes to the menu do not appear. Hi Mikhail, I have tried both of these suggestions and none of my changes save.

It appears that the changes being made while in Design view appear on the screen, but are not being applied to the html. When I add events it puts in the C# event handler but does not add it into the aspx, so I have to manually type it in.

Yesterday one of these crashes managed to save the aspx for this page with about 80% of it missing. I am also getting to the point where I find the IDE unusable for web dev as I cannot trust it.

This tool is almost unusable for me at the moment, but I don't know what else I can do. I fly the Microsoft flag at our company and speak very highly of the product but I am going to have to tell customers - sorry - you know that RAD development environment I use - well - you see its not actually RAD anymore because I have to pick and poke at the aspx it creates because I can't trust the parsing engine to do it for me.

Maybe it should be renamed to "HTML redesigner" as it seems to have a life of it's own. Can't imagine that we are the only ones affected by this bug?Sure, Visual Studio is still all in all a good product, but you can't help but feel that it could have been much more with a little attention to bugs... The main page in the application I'm building at the moment is quite a complex one, with a Multi View with a dozen or so Views, most of which contain a User Control with a Details View, datasources etc.Visual Studio has huge problems with this - almost any change to anything on the page (it can be a single keystroke) causes it to stop responding for up to 10 or 15 seconds, and occasionally it will simply NEVER come back - if I look in Task Manager in this situation it is using up all of one of my 2 CPUs, and eventually (3 or 4 minutes) it will crash with all sorts of Out Of Memory exceptions. The re-add did not take (was there in design but not source), and if I add columns to that or any other Grid View on the page, they no longer take (even new columns with names not used previously).
