There are numerous threads on the Windows 7 forum about this problem.

I thing priority is being given to Windows 10 updates.

There is a old computer here that is running Win XP and IE7 (yes, 7).

I'd like to update it IE8, which is the latest version that is allowed to run on Win XP.

I don't see a problem with doing it as shown in the video. I would also consider using the Vista Update Readiness Tool. As you know Vista will no longer be supported after April of 2017.

I don't know your specs but if you have at least 1GB of RAM then look at the following distros.

Something is going on with Microsoft's Update Servers.

When I did a clean install of Windows 7 it took forever to find and install updates.
